Breast lift
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure to correct sagging breast skin and reposition the nipples. This procedure is usually indicated for women who have undergone body changes due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or aging. The choice of surgical technique will depend on the degree of ptosis and the patient's expectations. Different techniques can be used, ranging from discreet scars around the areola to inverted T scars. Although the scars are permanent, a lift allows for a significant improvement in the shape and position of the breasts.
Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation aims to increase the volume of the breasts and improve their shape. This procedure is often performed with implants, the choice of which (anatomical or round) depends on the patient's preferences and anatomy. Access routes may vary: periareolar, axillary or inframammary. Regular follow-up is essential to monitor the condition of the implants and ensure breast health.
Breast lipofilling
Breast lipofilling involves taking fat from another part of the body by liposuction and then injecting it into the breast. This method is particularly suitable for correcting small asymmetries or improving the shape after an augmentation. The main advantage of lipofilling is that it offers a natural result without implants, thus reducing the risk of complications related to prostheses. However, there may be a partial resorption of the injected fat, sometimes requiring several sessions to obtain the desired result.
DIEP (Free Abdominal Flap)
DIEP breast reconstruction is often performed after a mastectomy. This technique uses tissue from the abdomen to create a new breast, resulting in a very natural-looking result. Preparation for this surgery requires a thorough assessment of the patient's health and the amount of tissue available. Although DIEP is a more complex procedure, it offers long-lasting results and is often preferred for its biocompatibility.
Conclusion
Each breast surgery technique has advantages and disadvantages, and the choice of procedure should be based on a thorough discussion between the surgeon and the patient. Safety, patient satisfaction, and achieving the desired aesthetic results should always be at the heart of surgical practice.
